つい先ほど、Wikipediaで"D.W. Washburn/The Monkees"について読んでいたところ、「この曲のオリジナル録音には黒人のベースシンガーがフィーチャーされていたが、シングルでは削除されており、その後2010年の The Birds, The Bees & The Monkeesボックスセットにオリジナルが収録された」とありました。 そこで、そのオリジナルを検索してみたのですが、YouTubeに上がっていないようなのです（検索の仕方が悪いのかも知れませんが）。

マスター台風の傷跡真っ盛りに向かって岡崎に帰られた壮絶な帰路の後本当にお疲れ様です。 たくさんのリクエストが殺到する中ボクのマニアックかつマイナーな要望を忘れる事などお気になさらず。是非次回以降に歌わせて頂きます。ただこの日本では驚くほど陽の当たらないnew jack swingの中にも名曲がある事は知って頂けたら幸甚です🎵 Vanessaはよくある美人歌手,美人◯◯などとは大違いで正真正銘ミスアメリカの栄誉に輝き,その後何くせをつけられ結局は当時まだまだ根深い黒人差別で前代未聞の剥奪されるなど考えられない冷遇を受けましたが苦手だった歌唱や血筋に秘めたgroove感の開花により素晴らしいalbumを発表し表舞台に復活した努力の人です。悲しい事に日本ではセデスのcfに使われた「save the best for last」が代表曲のような扱いを受けるのは悲しいので是非是非彼女のgroove抜群の歌唱+danceが堪能できる名盤「right stuff」を一聴してみて欲しいです(^^)
今回も相当マニアックなしばりでしたね（笑） 「２枚組アルバム」って、「電話のダイヤル」と同様、いまの若い人には実物を見せないと理解してもらえないモノかも。 Stevieの『Songs in the Key of Life』が「ＬＰ２枚組＋４曲入りＥＰ」という超変則的フォーマットで発売されたとき、雑誌の広告では「２〇〇曲に及ぶ（録音した）曲の中から厳選して、、、」と謳っていた記憶が。 あの頃のアウトテイクがホントにそんなにあったなら、（新曲は望まないから）そっちをリリースしてくれぇ～！ って思ってます💦
